Isreal Expels Venezuela Envoys

January 28, 2009

On January 27 Israel expelled all diplomatic staff from the Venezuelan Embassy, just a few days after Chavez ordered Jerusalem's envoys out of Venezuela. The move cut off the remaining ties that existed between the two countries. Chavez broke off the relationship a week before saying that Venezuela was permanently destroying diplomatic ties with Israel due to the "inhumane persecution of the Palestinian People carried out by the authorities of Israel."
This article only further displays the consequences of the operation in Gaza and how it destroyed Venezuelan- Israel ties. When Israel expelled Venezuelan diplomats, the relationship between the two countries was clearly over, to the dismay of the Jewish community. Currently it is very difficult for Israelis to get into Venezuela, due to the scarred relationship the two countries share. If there are no Israeli's helping to teach the community about the country of their people, it is difficult for the Venezuelans to learn first hand what is going on here. Especially for those Jews who are not economically fortunate enough to be able to travel to Israel. They are receiving misinformation from their own country on the happenings in Israel, and it is their responsibility to search for the truth within all the lies.
