Two Injured after Israeli Air Strike

El Universal January 1, 2010

An Israeli Airstrike "attacked" Gaza with a rocket leaving two injured. Two shots were heard one in the north and one in the south and the rocket fell in a clear area, injuring two people, one a child. A representative of Israel confirmed the attack but would not provide any details. Israel said that it would respond aggressively to any rockets shot into Israel, and this came after a rocket fell in Netivot, but left no injured. Since Operation Cast Lead the attacks have decreased significantly, although the IDF has staged 270 shots of this kind in the past year.
The article again portrays the Palestinians as the victims. It initially says they were attacked without mentioning this attack was out of retaliation until later. Usually when people read a newspaper they only look at the titles, and if this is the title of the article they would not see the other side of the story and view Israel negatively. Also it mentions a large number of shots made towards Gaza, but not the situations in which they occurred. When anyone sees a large number like that they would be shocked, but if people could probe deeper into the situation they would realize that these shots were also out of retaliation. This article once again misinforms Venezuelans about the occurrences in Israel and only increases anti- Israel sentiment.
